Nokia 5230 Mobile Phone Big Deal in a Cheap Deal

Posted by yaso Wednesday, November 18, 2009

The Nokia 5230 is the latest touch-phone from Nokia and is probably the cheapest touch-phone available in the market today. It's cheaper than many XpessMusic devices from Nokia like the 5800 and comes with a large 3.2 inches TFT resistive touch-screen of 16M colours. Built-in are proximity and accelerometer sensors to facilitate auto turn-off and UI auto-rotate respectively. The internal memory of this device stands at 70MB but this can be very conveniently expanded upto 16GB. The phone-book is capable of holding practically unlimited entries and fields. Although a stereo wired headset is included in the standard sales package of the phone, there is no memory card included. Weighing at 115 grams, the phone comes in a very neat design and style and is presently available in Black and White colour schemes. This Symbian S60 device ensures that a wide variety of softwares are available for downloading and it also supports Microsoft Exchange and an Email client. The built-in GPS receiver gets A-GPS support and it coordinates with the Nokia Maps 2.0 touch application that comes along with the phone. Also included in this phone is the Ovi Maps 3.0 application and the GPS can also be conveniently used along with Google maps.
The
Nokia 5230 is enabled with a Class32 GPRS and a Class32 EDGE which supports the WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML, RSS feeds web browser for convenient internet access. Down under, this phone is a quad-band GSM device that gives excellent reception and also supports dual-band 3G service. With HSDPA access @3.6Mbps, data can be downloaded at a very fast speed. Moreover Bluetooth and USB enable the phone to share and transfer data between compatible devices in a very convenient and cost-effective manner. Sadly the 5230 misses Wi-Fi but that would be too much asking from a phone at it's price. A 2 mega pixel camera comes at the back of the phone which is capable of taking decent photos as well as record videos in the VGA mode @ 30fps. In the entertainment section, the phone turns out to be a very versatile player. The music player can playback MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC and M4A file formats while the video player supports WMV, RV, MP4 and 3GP formats. Interestingly there is also a stereo FM radio for wholesome entertainment apart from the various interactive games. Music can be enjoyed by playing it in the speaker and can also be channeled out from the device through the 3.5 mm audio jack port. Nokia have also suggested that a “Comes with Music” version of the phone with unlimited music download subsciption will also be available shortly. Various other applications and features that find a mention in the Nokia 5230 are Voice command/ dial, photo editor, Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Handwriting recognition feature, Email and IM. All this is backed by the power of a standard Li-Ion battery that supports a talk time of over 4 hours and a standby time of up to 432 hours when using in 3G service.
